Houston Dash Dominate Chicago 5-0: A Night to Remember

HOUSTON — Tonight was one of those nights that makes you proud to be a Houston sports fan. The Houston Dash put together a complete performance, defeating the Chicago Stars 5-0 at Shell Energy Stadium.

Here’s how every goal happened:

5’ — Kat Rader | Houston 1-0

The Dash wasted almost no time getting on the board. Avery Patterson found space and delivered the ball into the box, where Kat Rader was ready to finish. Rader took the opportunity and put Houston ahead early.

42’ — Kat Rader | Houston 2-0

Rader wasn’t finished. Clarissa Larisey created the opportunity, sending the ball toward Rader. Rader controlled it and fired a fantastic finish into the net for her second goal of the night and her ninth of the season.

45+2’ — Linda Ullmark | Houston 3-0

Right before halftime, Houston added another. Kiki Van Zanten worked the ball across to Linda Ullmark, who got her shot toward goal. After the deflection, the ball still had enough power to find the back of the net.

Three goals before halftime. Houston was rolling.

79’ — Kate Faasse | Houston 4-0

After entering the match, Miljana Ivanović immediately made an impact. Ivanović attacked down the left side and delivered a perfectly weighted ball into the box. Kate Faasse timed her run perfectly and finished into the bottom corner.

90+1’ — Lisa Boattin | Houston 5-0

And Houston wasn’t done.

Ivanović delivered another dangerous ball, this time setting up Lisa Boattin, who finished in stoppage time to make it five.

Two assists for Ivanović. Two goals for Rader. Five goals for Houston. A clean sheet for Jane Campbell and the Dash defense.

As a Houston fan, nights like this one are exactly why we love our teams. The Dash played with confidence, energy and determination from beginning to end. Hopefully the string of good results leads to something greater for Houston in a critical stretch of the season.
