The Houston Dash are starting a new magic of soccer, and this 3-2 comeback victory against the North Carolina Courage showed exactly what this team can do in the right situation.
The match started with a tough moment for the Courage. In the 13th minute, former Dash Natalie Jacobs suffered an injury and had to leave the game, with Natalia Staude coming on as her replacement. Then, in the 36th minute, Ally Schlegel put North Carolina ahead 1-0.
But the Dash magic was just starting to show up as pressure mounted.
Kate Faasse scored in the 42nd minute to tie the game 1-1 before halftime. The Courage answered again in the 51st minute, with Evelyn Ijeh making it 2-1. From there, Houston never stopped fighting.
The Dash made changes from the bench, including Clarissa Larisey and Natalie Hammond in the 62nd minute, followed by Khyah Harper and Miljana Ivanović in the 73rd minute. For Ivanović, it was a special moment as she made her Houston Dash debut. Lisa Boattin entered in the 84th minute, and Cate Hardin came on in the 90th minute.
Then came the comeback.
In the 80th minute, Clarissa Larisey scored to make it 2-2. And in the 90+3rd minute, Larisey scored again, completing the comeback and giving the Dash a dramatic 3-2 win.
From the Courage losing Jacobs to injury, going up 1-0, and Houston fighting back twice, the Dash showed that something special could be starting.
A new magic of soccer is starting with the Dash — and when the Dash win, we are all happy!
