Dynamo Fall 2–0 to Sporting Kansas City as Herrera Sees Red
The Houston Dynamo suffered a 2–0 defeat to Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night, with both SKC goals coming before halftime and Héctor Herrera receiving a red card in stoppage time.
Sporting KC opened the scoring in the 27th minute, when André Luiz found the back of the net to give Kansas City a 1–0 lead. The visitors doubled its advantage in the 45th minute through Calvin Harris, putting the Dynamo in a difficult position heading into halftime as they struggled to find a response.
The frustration inside Shell Energy Stadium was noticeable as some Dynamo fans began exiting the stadium at halftime, with Houston trailing by two goals and facing an uphill battle against the last place team in the Western Conference.

Then, in first-half stoppage time at 48+ minutes, Houston was reduced to 10 men when Héctor Herrera was shown a red card for violent conduct. HH once again in the spotlight for being sent off in a key game that has implications for playoff scenarios.
Playing the entire second half with 10 men made the comeback even more difficult. The Dynamo continued to fight, but they could not find a goal as Sporting KC held onto its two-goal advantage.
The final whistle confirmed a 2–0 Sporting Kansas City victory, leaving Houston with a frustrating night in front of its home supporters. With this result, the Dynamo fall to fourth place in the West after only picking up one win in the last seven games.
