Dynamo Fall 1-0 to San Jose in Dude Wipes Derby

The Houston Dynamo suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss on the road Saturday night against the San Jose Earthquakes in the inaugural Dude Wipes Derby at PayPal Park.
The match was a defensive battle, with both teams struggling to create clear opportunities in the opening half. San Jose eventually found the breakthrough in the 38th minute, when Daniel Munie scored to give the Earthquakes a 1-0 lead.
Houston entered the second half looking for a response, but the Dynamo couldn’t find the equalizer. The team pushed forward and searched for opportunities, but San Jose’s defense remained organized and goalkeeper Angus Gunn made several important saves to preserve the lead.
The Dynamo continued to fight until the final whistle, but the Earthquakes held on to claim all three points.
The loss is a frustrating result for Houston, especially after the Dynamo had just earned a 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake. Houston now returns home needing to regroup, score goals, and focus on its next challenge back home against FC Cincinnati this weekend.
The Dude Wipes Derby ends with San Jose taking the first victory, while the Dynamo leave California empty-handed.
