The scoring struggles continued for the Houston Dash on Friday, May 15, 2026, as they fell 3-0 to the Kansas City Current, extending their goal drought from open play to 42 days. Once again, the Dash were unable to find the back of the net, and defensive mistakes early in the match put the team in a difficult position from the start.

Kansas City wasted little time applying pressure. In the 14th minute, disaster struck for Houston when a dangerous ball into the box ended in an own goal by Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell. The unfortunate moment gave the Current an early 1-0 lead and shifted momentum heavily toward the home side.

Just two minutes later, Kansas City doubled its advantage through star striker Temwa Chawinga. The Current quickly broke through Houston’s defense, and Chawinga calmly finished her chance to make it 2-0 only 16 minutes into the match.

The Dash struggled to respond offensively throughout the first half. Possession spells rarely turned into dangerous opportunities, and Houston once again looked disconnected in the attacking third. The first half ended with Kansas City firmly in control at 2-0.

In the second half, Houston attempted to regroup and slow down the Current attack, but Kansas City continued to create chances. In the 67th minute, Chawinga struck again, scoring her second goal of the night to put the game out of reach at 3-0.

For Houston, the result continues a frustrating stretch in front of goal. The Dash have now gone 42 days without scoring a non-penalty goal, a statistic that highlights the team’s ongoing attacking struggles. While the defense has shown moments of resilience this season, mistakes and a lack of offensive production continue to cost Houston valuable points.

The Dash will now look to regroup quickly as pressure continues to grow for the club to rediscover its attacking identity. With the season moving forward, Houston must find answers offensively if they hope to turn around this difficult run of form.
