Following a lengthy weather delay, Janine Sonis opened the scoring in the 15th minute, giving Denver an early lead assisted by Yazmeen Ryan in her return to Houston.

Maggie Graham converted the spot kick to make it 2–1 going into the break.

Delanie Sheehan, also on her return to Houston scored in the 49th minute to extend the lead 3-1, her first goal in a Summit uniform. The visitors would close out the game with a 4-1 scoreline following Sonis' second goal of the night.

Houston enter a critical path as they only earned one point in the last four games following the international break and losing great momentum after a hot start to the season.

"The biggest thing is just really being clear on what we need to regroup on to move forward. We definitely need to go back to the basics. We need to get back to our defensive identity. That's just from a tactical standpoint. There are a few things from a leadership standpoint that we need to keep growing in. I feel very good about the group right now and where they're at.”

Houston Dash head coach Fabrice Gautrat

Dash now head to Kansas City for a Friday Night match. It has been 42 days and counting since Houston have last scored an open play goal.
