Houston Dynamo and D.C. United Share Points in 1-1 Draw

The Houston Dynamo return to MLS action Wednesday night after the FIFA World Cup break, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw against D.C. United at Shell Energy Stadium.
Houston started the match on the front foot, controlling possession and creating several chances. Their hard work paid off in the first half when Héctor Herrera gave the Dynamo a 1-0 lead, sending the home fans into halftime with plenty to cheer about.
It was also a special night for Nathan Ordaz, who made his official debut for D.C. United. The Salvadoran international came on in the second half and gave D.C. United a spark with his energy and movement. While he didn’t get on the scoresheet, it was a memorable first appearance as he begins the next chapter of his MLS career.
The Dynamo looked like they were on their way to all three points, but D.C. United kept fighting. In the 78th minute, Tai Baribo found the equalizer to make it 1-1 and silence the crowd at Shell Energy Stadium.
Houston continued to push forward in the final minutes, creating a few more opportunities, but couldn’t find the winning goal. After leading for most of the match, the Dynamo had to settle for a point in their first MLS match back from the World Cup break.
It wasn’t the result Houston wanted, but there were still positives to take away. The Dynamo showed good attacking moments throughout the night but will need to finish their chances as they continue their push toward the MLS Cup Playoffs.
