HOUSTON, Texas — Houston Dynamo made a strong statement in front of their home fans with a convincing 3-0 victory over Honduran powerhouse CD Olimpia in an international friendly. The match showcased Houston’s attacking quality while providing both encouraging and concerning injury updates ahead of the MLS restart.

One of the biggest positives came before kickoff as defender Lucas Halter returned to action after missing time with a lower-body injury. His return gives Houston valuable depth and stability in the back line as the team enters an important stretch of the season.

Houston took control early, with Mateusz Bogusz opening the scoring in the 14th minute. The Dynamo dominated possession and created several dangerous opportunities throughout the night, keeping Olimpia on the defensive.

After halftime, Franco Negri doubled Houston’s lead in the 76th minute before Bogusz completed his brace just three minutes later, sealing an impressive 3-0 victory.

The night wasn’t entirely positive for Houston, however. Veteran center back Antônio Carlos was forced off with an apparent injury, creating uncertainty for the Dynamo’s defense moving forward. The club will hope the injury is not serious, but the return of Lucas Halter provides a timely boost if Carlos is forced to miss time.

Houston’s performance was one of its most complete in recent weeks, combining a disciplined defensive display with an efficient attack. The clean sheet, three goals, and the return of key players gave fans plenty of reasons for optimism as the Dynamo prepare to resume MLS action. Duncan McGuire made his Houston Dynamo debut against CD Olimpia, playing 45 minutes and making a positive first impression. The forward looked comfortable in Houston’s attack, making intelligent runs, linking up well with his teammates, and creating dangerous moments in the final third. The only thing missing from his performance was a goal, but his debut showed plenty of promise and gave Dynamo fans an exciting look at what he can bring to the club for the rest of the season.

Final Score: Houston Dynamo 3-0 CD Olimpia
