Houston Dynamo got another big win on Saturday night, beating LA Galaxy 1-0 at home during the 2006 Championship Celebration Night as they push to the top of the Western Conference and beyond.

The Dynamo started the game strong and got the only goal of the game in the 21st minute. Guilherme stepped up to take the penalty after Lawrence Ennali took a late challenge inside the box and placed it in the back of the net to give Houston the 1-0 lead. The Brazilian Designated Player recorded his twelfth goal of the season.

After that, Houston continued to fight and the defense did a great job keeping LA Galaxy away from scoring. Jonathan Bond once again had a big game in goal and helped Houston get their fourth straight clean sheet which is a new all-time club record.

The Galaxy also made things harder for themselves when Emiro Garcés got a red card in the 58th minute, leaving LA with 10 players.

Houston had some chances to make it 2-0, but the important thing was keeping the lead. The Dynamo defense stayed strong until the final whistle. Houston did get a late red card of their own when Ibrahim Aliyu was sent off in stoppage time for a second yellow card, but Houston was able to hold on and get all three points.

This win marks Houston's seventh victory in the last ten league games, which let them leapfrog towards first place in the Western Conference at the end of the night. The Dynamo are playing really good soccer right now and continue their positive momentum to stay at the summit.

For me, the biggest thing from this game was the defense. Houston did not need to score multiple goals. They scored one and defended it until the end as it has been a trend following the World Cup break.

Now the Dynamo will look ahead to their next game on the road against Vancouver Whitecaps for a massive midweek clash that can determine who stays at the top of the West.
