The Houston Dash fell 1-0 on the road at Seattle Reign, with a costly second-half mistake ultimately deciding the match that further sets them back for a spot in the playoffs.
The two teams battled through a scoreless opening 45 minutes, heading into halftime 0-0. The Dash stayed organized defensively, while both sides struggled to find the breakthrough.
Then, in the 52nd minute, Seattle found its opportunity. A dangerous ball into the box created a difficult situation for Houston goalkeeper Jane Campbell, whose error allowed Reign's Maddie Dahlien to capitalize in the only goal of the night.
The Dash had opportunities to respond, but they couldn’t find the equalizer before the final whistle. Campbell made important saves afterward to keep Houston in the game, but the damage had already been done.
For Houston, it was a frustrating night. 45 minutes of keeping Seattle off the scoreboard disappeared because of one costly second-half mistake and still lacking a response from losing positions.
One error opened the door. Seattle walked through it.
