The Houston Dynamo closed out their final match before the FIFA World Cup 2026 break with a hard-fought 1-1 draw on the road against the LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Houston showed resilience away from home and earned an important point against a dangerous Galaxy side in a match filled with intensity and chances from both clubs. The result sends the Dynamo into the international break with momentum after battling one of the Western Conference’s top teams.

LA Galaxy opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Joseph Paintsil found space inside the box and finished past Houston goalkeeper Jonathan Bond to give the home side a 1-0 lead. The Galaxy controlled possession early and created multiple opportunities throughout the first half.

The Dynamo answered back before halftime thanks to Guilherme, who continued his strong form this season. In the 40th minute, the Brazilian attacker struck a beautiful effort from outside the box to level the match at 1-1 and silence the crowd in Carson.

Houston defended well during the second half as the Galaxy pushed for a winner. LA outshot the Dynamo 19-10, but Jonathan Bond delivered a strong performance in goal with five saves to help Houston secure the draw.

With this result, the Dynamo go into the break with 16 points in the last eight league matches and four points away from third place in the Western Conference. The latest string of results shows Houston's turnaround compared to a slow start to the season after only picking up six points in the first six league matches.

The match also carried extra attention around the league as Apple and MLS used the game as the first professional sporting event broadcast entirely on iPhone 17 Pro cameras.

For Houston, the result closes the chapter on the first part of the 2026 MLS regular season before the league pauses for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Dynamo now head into the break looking to regroup, recover, and prepare for the second half of the campaign with hopes of continuing their playoff push.
